I too got this for my 8 year old for this past christmas, hoping to give her a “pre-game boy/nintendo” trial run with a gaming system. She loves all the titles offerred, from Littlest Pet Shop to Billy & Mandy, and the pricing was too good to be true as I got everything with several games, a skin and case for less than $30 plus free shipping near Christmas time from Amazon.

I think one needs to ask themselves a couple questions before buying this system:

Do you have internet access? If you already have access to the internet, FREE games like this system offers abound-from Nick JR. to PBS to even most commerical sites like Hasbro’s littlest Pet Shop offers free online games, stationary and such. You’re child will quickly pick up on this-and it will be sitting idle within minutes.

Are you buying because it’s similar to Nintendo looks but cheaper? The cost of this vs. a fancier system like game cubes/ds lites/leapsters, etc is considerably less (and I suspect it won’t make it like those companies have). The investment for me was low, but if it was higher for you-you may be inclined to call it junk and get frustrated. It is what it is, just acess to online games with pieces for the your child to feel “cool” with low risk investment. That was my intention. She showed me (as she passed it on to her 6 year old sister after 3 uses) she was mature enough to be rady for a DS Lite for her 9th Birthday this past month, and she hasn’t put it down.

Make sure if you’re child wants the real deal-and they often do-they are mature enough to handle the hardware, software and keep track of their stylus, etc. Otherwise, this might be okay for that-at low risk to you! It’s more a stepping stone toy that is simply marketing their own games ownline for download. That’s all!

One more thing-this is not portable in the car!!! Most people would know this reading the packaging, but again, if you want for trips in the car or plane-even camping or hotel vacations-get one of the other more expensive systems!

Net Jet (when compared to software you’re buy for your PC at $20-30 a game) delivers for the price and for the description. It’s an average video game toy.

    JUNK!!!

I bought this toy for my son for Christmas. It doesn’t work – What a piece of JUNK!!. I also tried to get toy to work on 3 different computers – it gave me the message Server Busy – try again later. Of course the packaging makes it impossible to open and take back if it doesn’t work. I have written an email to Hasbro and receive nothing back in response. Their hours to call them are almost impossible, if you work (8:00 – 4:30). I’m tired of waiting so I am going to try to return it without the packaging.

    Buyer Beware!

    Net Jet Online Gaming System

Boooo!! Thumbs Down!! TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED — WE DO NOT RECOMMEND NETJET. I purchased NetJet in November for my son for Christmas. We followed the instructions to the letter (turned off our firewall and did everything the instructions said). Finally, fed up, I called Hasbro. The customer rep told me that “yes, they were having problems with their server but that it should be fixed soon and asked us to be patient.” I took the rep’s advice and patiently waited, plugging the controller in every other day or so to see if their server was up yet but continued getting the same error message. I wrote an email to Hasbor complaining about the game and I NEVER received a response. I tried the game again yesterday — same error message. My computer is brand new (o/s XP). You always think “this is it; it’s going to work this time” because it shows the game loading but then the error message appears saying their “server is busy, try again later”. We also noticed that the game doesn’t seem to be in sync with what you’re doing. Before the game loads it says, “plug in controller” AFTER WE HAD PLUGGED IN THE CONTROLLER, then, it says “insert game” (AFTER WE HAVE INSERTED THE GAME!!) ….then the dreaded error message appears. This has been nothing but a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT that I wished I’d known about before I purchased it!

You have to have internet for this…
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The reviews for this were great and I thought I could handle my kids having access to the internet but it didn’t work out. I don’t like my 7 & 10 year on-line playing games. They are not savvy on pop ups and when not to click on something. Our PC ended up with a virus and we are back to PC games that do not require the internet.

    No Longer In Existance
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This game was great when it worked, but is completely useless now as the online interface you play it with is no longer in existance… YOU CANNOT PLAY!!! I can’t believe that Amazon or any other retailer is still selling these – if you purchase it think of it like a play phone – except a play gaming remote – it doesn’t work anything, but it has neat buttons!

Not nearly as much fun as my daughter thought it would be, and the website you HAVE to use for this is being discontinued on Dec 31st. DON”T BUY THIS!!!!

This is a unique idea and the children enjoy playing with it. There are also free games that come with it that you can play on the computer. I got this on sale, and it was well worth the price.

    ignore the negative posts!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am so surprised to see so many negative posts. This game is great for little kids (pre gaming system). It seems that the problem lies not with the toy itself, but in certain people’s inability to get it to work. Perhaps these people are not computer literate or proficient– but, let me assure you that there are NO PROBLEMS with the game system itself. We bought this system, with the bubble game, and my two girls have enjoyed it immensely. We are now going to buy additional game keys. And, what a value too! Unlike some children’s online gaming systems that get you to keep spending more and more money for virtual “stuff”, this one is what-you-see-is-what-you-get. No ads, no popups, no extra charges and a fun game experience for youngsters. Easy to use and navigate website with popular game titles, all at a very affordable price make this a wonderful value for familes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

To those that could not get it to work: do you really think hasbro needs to give you tech support? Call geek sqaud if you cant run your computer! Sheesh. Again, highly recomended.

    cool toy
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My daughter(8)loves her net-jet. She has the Littlest Pet Shop key. She earnes ‘kibble’ then can spend them in the store or save them for a bigger home for her pet. We have high speed internet and have no problem starting or playing this game. The game doesn’t want to close down very well sometimes. But overall it’s a really fun game.

NET JET DOES NOT WORK! COFIRMED BY HASBRO
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this game thinking it would be great for my son, so he did not have to see all the junk on the internet. I tried the controller on (4) different computer and I know how a computer works, so I thought it is either a bad controller or my firewall. So I took the controller back to the store and purchased (2) more since they were clearanced, thinking at least one would work. No go! So I called Hasbro and they confirmed that there are problems and are sending me a replacement toy of equal value. They would not say if the system will ever work again or if they will maintain the on-line server. Probably best to return yours if you are able to at this point.

BEWARE!!!!! SERVER that holds games is being DISCONTINUED 1/09
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Wanted to let anyone know that might be looking to buy this system. When my kids logged on last week a message popped up saying the server is not being serviced by Hasbro after Jan 2009. I even said that Hasbro couldn’t guarantee that the games and system would work after that point.

    Obsolete and Useless
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This gaming controller is absolutely useless. The games were expired and so I could do nothing with it. The only thing that’s neat about it is that it glows. VERY DISAPPOINTING! It can’t even be used as a controller for computer games.
